Accounts
An account is free. The software needs none.
MiCyte runs on your own machine without an account, and nothing on this site is behind a sign-in. An account is a person's sign-in to instances that someone else runs: your own, hosted for you, or the instance of an organization you belong to. The sign-in costs nothing. What costs is a hosted instance, and only for the hardware behind it.
What an account is for
Reaching an instance you do not run yourself.
Your own instance, hosted for you. You sign in and land in PIM, the application a hosted instance is managed through: what it holds, what it costs, and, when a website or a mailbox is added, where you write and publish.
An organization's instance. When an organization has its instance and its custom applications hosted by a third party such as Fruitful Network Development, its people each get a sign-in to that instance and pay nothing for it. They see what the organization's instance holds, within the role they were given.
The network. The registry's map and directory and every open channel are read by any browser that asks. A sign-in adds nothing there today; an account that follows a person across the network is designed, and not built.
What is charged, and why
The hardware behind a hosted instance.
A hosted instance occupies storage, computing and traffic on the host's machines, and that is what is paid for: the base of the instance, the storage it uses beyond what the base includes, and each service it is set to employ, such as a website on your own domain, a mailbox, a newsletter or payment processing. Nothing is added to an account except by the person who holds it.
Every figure is stated by the host, on the host, read from its own price list. This page types none, so it cannot disagree with the one you are charged by.
The software is free in both senses: AGPL-3.0, and nothing to rent. An instance you run yourself costs you your own machine and nothing else, and its services are ports it can be set to use or not — the host's mail, hosting and payments are things an instance employs, never things it depends on.
Today
What is built, plainly.
A hosted instance is opened by Fruitful Network Development. Today it opens with a trial period and a card on file. The host's door reserves your username: micyte.com/__fnd/signup/. It is served by the host rather than by this site, which is why it may be closed while this page is not.
Finishing an account online waits on the card processor. Until one is bound, the host finishes a reserved account by hand and writes to you at the address you gave.
If FND hosts your website, you sign in at your own domain. Your dashboard lives at your address, under /dashboard/, not here.
An organization's people are given their own sign-ins by the host. With a full role, or a finance role that reads and does not write.
A free account that is not a hosted instance is not built yet. Nor is an account that follows a person across the network. Both are written down as the intended shape; neither is offered here as if it existed.
